FAQS

THE GREENHOUSE

Yes, while we welcome founders from all walks of life, the Greenhouse is specifically designed to support ideas that contribute to environmental impact. This includes innovations that remove or avoid carbon emissions, as well as those that deliver co-benefits like improved livelihoods, enhanced biodiversity, or better access to water.

You don’t need to be a climate expert, but your idea should aim to tackle a problem that supports our extraordinary yet endangered planet.

Around 3-5 hours per week, for 6 weeks. There will be a mix of live sessions, self-paced lessons, peer interaction and optional coaching.

It’s 100% online. All you need is internet access and a device that can stream video and access shared documents.

Live sessions are highly recommended, and engagement throughout the programme will be evaluated, but recordings will be made available if you can’t make it due to work or other commitments.

No. This programme is designed for people exploring entrepreneurship, including first-time founders, scientists, students, community members, and others with relevant lived experience

Not necessarily. You just need a strong interest in solving a real climate or industrial challenge. The programme helps you identify and shape your idea as you go.

Perfect, the Greenhouse can help you validate and refine it, and determine whether to take it forward into the Kinjani Lab.

Yes. Many participants start solo. If you’re selected for the Lab later and are looking for a co-founder, we’ll aim to support you in finding the right collaborator.

Yes, there is a small participation fee of $55. We are offering fully-funded scholarships to those who wish to apply.

The Greenhouse itself does not include funding, although there are cash prizes to be won and top participants may be selected for the Kinjani Incubator, where returnable grant funding and investor introductions are available.

Yes! At the end of the Greenhouse, we award three cash prizes of $2,500 to standout participants. These prizes are designed to help you take the next step, whether that’s incorporating your company, running lab tests, building a website, or accessing legal support.

If you are selected for the Lab and your business shows strong potential, you may be considered for investment through Kinjani Invest or our aligned capital partners. But this programme is focused on early exploration and learning.

Not automatically, but you’ll be one step closer.

Completing the Greenhouse doesn’t guarantee acceptance into the Kinjani Lab, but it gives us a chance to get to know you, your idea, and how you've progressed. We’ll already have your work on our radar, and the top participants from the Greenhouse will be shortlisted for the Incubator application process.

You’ll join the wider Kinjani Community and get access to ongoing learning, founder stories, and peer connections. Top-performing participants will be invited to apply for our high-touch Incubator.

We care about the hard stuff: agriculture, waste, mining, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure. If you’re solving real problems that matter in your region, we want to hear from you.

THE LAB

We’re interested in real-world, high-impact climate challenges. This includes:

  • Agriculture & food systems
  • Restorative mining
  • Urbanisation & infrastructure
  • Manufacturing & materials & industrial processes
  • Water, biodiversity, and ecosystem restoration

We prioritise ventures that contribute to carbon removal or emissions reduction with strong co-benefits for people and nature.

No, but you should have more than just an idea. We’re looking for early-stage incorporated ventures that have done some validation, whether through a pilot, customer discovery, lab tests, or prototyping.

Not necessarily. Solo founders are welcome, but we’ll want to understand your technical, commercial and operational capacity, and how you plan to build the right team. We may be able to support team formation if needed.

The Lab is delivered in a hybrid format, with site visits, virtual sessions and in-person engagements (location TBA). You’ll need to commit to attending sessions, innovation sprints and mentoring check ins.

The Lab runs for 3 months, beginning in Q1 2026.

You should plan to commit at least 10–15 hours per week, including live sessions, mentoring, and field work.

No, the Lab is fully funded. Participation is free. We also provide non-dilutive returnable grants to selected ventures to help fund early operations and proof points.

A returnable grant is non-dilutive capital, meaning we don’t take equity in your company. If your venture raises funding within 12 months of completing the programme, we ask that you return the grant (no interest), so it can be recycled to support future founders.

No. You can apply directly to the Incubator. However, participants from the Greenhouse who show strong progress may be shortlisted during the selection process.
