On the Rooftop: Kinjani Lab '26 - An evening with the ventures shaping Sub-Saharan Africa's climate economy.

Cape Town · Thursday 21 May 2026 · 18h00 – 21h00 · By invitation

Kinjani Lab is a selective venture programme for science-driven founders building climate solutions across Southern Africa's hard-to-transition sectors. Restorative mining and minerals. Regenerative land and crop systems. Water and marine economies. Waste management and circular materials. Data-driven biology and frontier innovation. At Kinjani Lab, we focus on the intersection of three core pillars: science, business, and people.

The three pillars unlock what science-grounded climate ventures need to scale. Validated science and operational track record become your competitive edge. A commercial pathway that turns science and execution into demonstrated demand. A resilient founder who executes through the long cycles these ventures require. Build all three, and you unlock the path from proof to traction to investment to impact.

Cohort '26

We opened the cohort with 30 ventures in Phase One. Four weeks. A structured deep-dive diagnostic across science, business and people. Eight applied Lab sessions, each producing a real output the founder keeps. A defined customer profile. A B2B sales approach. A scoped pilot plan. A working financial model. A capital strategy.

Ten ventures have now moved through to Phase 2: the 10-day in-person retreat in Cape Town. This is where the cohort becomes a community. Where the investment case is built. Where the science, business and founder are aligned.

The Dinner

On Thursday, 21st 2026, we are bringing the Cohort '26 founders to the rooftop at Rick’s Cafe in Cape Town. Alongside them: a curated group of investors, industrial partners and ecosystem operators. The people who should know these founders are in the room with them.
